Vive a San Salvario, il padre Silvio Curto \u00e8 stato per oltre vent\u2019anni direttore del Museo Egizio di Torino, mentre la madre Anna Maria era impiegata in Fiat Auto. Sposato, con due figli, con Claudia Kmieck. Laureato in Lettere, indirizzo di Storia dell\u2019arte con una tesi su un manoscritto inedito del grande storico dell\u2019arte ottocentesco Giovan Battista Cavacaselle, sulla Pittura in Piemonte tra Quattrocento e Cinquecento. Per molti anni ha insegnato Storia dell\u2019arte, \u00e8 stato direttore all\u2019Albertina di Torino e dal primo aprile 2016 \u00e8 direttore di Palazzo Madama.
